Insulin resistance, stronger hunger signals, poor sleep, and hormonal changes can push against progress.

PCOS can make weight loss harder. Your provider should understand why.

PCOS is hormonal and metabolic. It can affect insulin, hunger, cycles, sleep, and where weight is stored, which means the usual “eat less and try harder” advice often misses the point.
Some treatments can support appetite, weight, and metabolic health. They do not cure every PCOS symptom.
Compare options →Food, strength, sleep, pregnancy plans, and ongoing care still belong in the plan. Medication is one tool.

Patient story
“After years of being told to lose weight first, I finally found a team that explained why PCOS was making it harder. I didn't need another perfect plan. I needed a realistic one and people who answered my questions.”

Questions people ask before they're ready to apply.
Can PCOS make weight loss harder?
Yes. Insulin resistance, appetite signals, sleep problems, and hormonal changes can all affect weight. That does not mean progress is impossible or that you have failed.
Do I need diabetes to ask Emerge for a review?
No. You can submit a medical weight-care intake without diabetes. A licensed provider decides whether treatment is appropriate from your full health history.
Does insurance need to approve treatment?
Emerge is a cash-pay program, so insurance prior authorization is not required. Medical eligibility is still reviewed independently.
Does Emerge cure or directly treat PCOS?
No. Emerge provides medical weight care. Improving weight and metabolic health may help some PCOS-related concerns, but medication is not a cure for PCOS.
